It’s so easy to just not bother when you are short of time, 30 minutes can so easily be filled with browsing through your phone. We are living in our back garden with a small room and roof shelter, as our house build is delayed by Covid, I have a glut of work post lockdown and last week Mum found herself in the intensive care unit that’s Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, all very good excuses not to go to the studio!
I am determined not to let this happen and have tried to organise myself with a number of projects on the go and select the task based on the timeframe I have, there is always 30 minutes somewhere in 24 hours!
In 30 minutes I can read a chapter, experiment with materials and tools. I am currently experimenting with Sanguine and ink looking at Renaissance drawing techniques.
With 45 minutes to spare I can head to my drawing book and sketch or make notes. I have been looking at the techniques of Leonardo da Vinci.
I have also been looking at the work of Giovanni Battista Leopold doing quick sketches that help me consider the materials, tools and techniques that he used.
With 1.5 hours to spare I can work on one of my cast paintings Dante all the foot leaving 15 minutes for cleanup at the end.
When I have three hours up my sleeve I can go to my horses skull and that's where I'm heading now.
